Mike Smith

Mike advises companies on all aspects of communication, in particular takeovers, initial public offerings, financial results and crises. He works across the sectors. Since joining Headland four years ago he has advised companies including Funding Circle, TSB and Apax Partners. Mike was previously CEO (UK) of Finsbury and a senior partner at Brunswick. In those roles he advised National Grid, Sainsbury’s and Old Mutual on their successful M&A projects and Polypipe and Sophos on their well-received IPOs. Earlier in his career Mike spent 20 years at the Financial Times in writing and editing roles including Financial News Editor, Brussels Correspondent and Energy Correspondent. His career began at the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Evening Chronicle.
