Edward Young Managing Director

Since joining Headland in 2018, Edward has supported a range of consumer brands going through business turnarounds.

For the past seven years, Ed has advised the leadership team at Pret A Manger as the business recovered from a series of crises, including the deaths of two customers as the result of anaphylaxis. He has also supported TSB as the bank recovered from a challenging IT migration in 2018, and Premier Foods as it rebuilt its reputation with investors and the City, ultimately re-joining the FTSE250 after an absence of eight years.

Ed’s work at Headland has been shaped by his time at Tesco, where he worked between 2014 and 2018. First as an adviser to Tesco, and subsequently as Corporate Communications Director, Ed helped the business rebuild trust with colleagues, customers, and suppliers in the wake of an accounting crisis and several years of declining market share.

Ed joined Tesco from Brunswick, where his clients included Tesco, Kingfisher and HSBC. Ed’s career began with five years at Conservative Campaign Headquarters, where he was a Speechwriter to David Cameron and Chief of Staff to the Party Chairman. In the 2017 General Election, Ed stood as the Conservative Candidate in York Central.

Alongside his work at Headland, Ed is a Trustee of the Richard Shephard Music Foundation, which helps to bring music education to more children in primary schools across Yorkshire and the North East.

Edward’s biography of DISRAELI, written with Douglas Hurd in 2013, was a Sunday Times best seller and was long listed for the Samuel Johnson prize.
