TheCityUK appoints Headland for wide-ranging PR brief

27 February 2020: Headland has been hired by the leading industry-led body representing UK-based financial and related professional services, TheCityUK, to advise on its corporate communications.

Beginning from January, Headland’s brief is to advise and assist TheCityUK as it champions and supports the long-term success and competitiveness of the UK-based financial and related professional services industry.

Headland was originally hired to advise TheCityUK on its public affairs programme in December 2018. This work will continue, dovetailing with the now expanded brief focused on media engagement and wider public relations strategy.

Oliver Tilley, Director at Headland, said: “Now celebrating its tenth year, TheCityUK has been hugely successful in providing a unified voice for UK-based financial and related professional services, championing and supporting its continued success both in the UK and overseas. We’re incredibly proud to be advising them at a critical period in their history as they look ahead to the next decade of challenges and opportunities facing the industry.”

Jennifer Green, Managing Director, Corporate Communications, at TheCityUK, said: “Our industry is a national asset, providing jobs and supporting growth right across the country. With the UK now out of the EU and negotiations on the future UK-EU relationship – and other trading relationships with markets across the world – about to begin, we are at a critical juncture which will have long-lasting effects on our industry, and the customers it serves. At the same time the industry also needs to be clearer about the benefits it brings to both the economy and society. We are very pleased to have Headland’s advice and support to help guide us on this path.”
