Janine Lloyd-Jones Partner

Janine joined Headland after a career at the heart of UK government, most recently as Director of Communication at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). There she served on both the Executive Committee and Board, with Board responsibility for reputation and oversight of strategic risk across one of the UK’s most complex global organisations. Previously, Janine spent four years in 10 Downing Street, including as Deputy Head of News, and held senior communication leadership roles across government, including as Deputy Director for a multi-billion-pound organisation of more than 100,000 people. She has advised Prime Ministers, senior officials, CEOs and Boards through some of the defining events of the past two decades, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflicts in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Ukraine and the Middle East, the global financial crisis, Brexit and major UK corporate failures. In her in-house private sector career she built the marketing and comms function for UK tech start up, which recently sold at unicorn-status.

Alongside her client advisory work, Janine leads Headland’s crisis practice. Her focus is prevention and mitigation: helping organisations anticipate risk, strengthen their resilience and make better decisions when the stakes are highest. She works with Boards and Executive Teams to identify vulnerabilities, challenge assumptions and build the structures, processes and capabilities that strengthen organisational performance under pressure.
