The impact of government, regulators and parliament on both the reputation and commercial decisions made by businesses has never been more acute. Over the last ten years I’ve been helping companies to mitigate this political risk while using public policy and stakeholder engagement to gain competitive advantage. It’s been fast-paced, complex and business critical: working with a collection of challenger energy firms to secure regulatory concessions from the CMA; preparing a high-profile CEO for a tough encounter with a Select Committee; developing a new sustainability framework for an international FMCG company; and advising a high-street leisure business on the successful acquisition of a state-owned asset. My career began with the Conservative Party, developing new policy around Corporate Responsibility.
